Alan Keith Tillotson, Registered Herbalist
REGISTERED HERBALIST Alan Tillotson has been practicing herbal medicine for over twenty years, and is a professional member of the peer reviewed American Herbalists Guild. He holds an accredited Master's degree in Asian Medical Systems (Goddard College), and a non-accredited Ph.D. in Integrative Health Sciences (IUPS). He earned a teaching degree in meditation from the Jin Shan School of Taoist Meditation under Sifu Wang Yen-Nien. Alan is best known in America for his apprenticeship study of Ayurvedic herbology beginning in 1976 in Nepal under Vaidya Mana Bajra Bajracharya. He has also studied Chinese herbology in detail working side by side with his wife Naixin since 1991.
Over several years Alan was invited as a guest faculty member, teaching several classes at the Thomas Jefferson Medical University's alternative medicine course, as well as giving several subsequent seminars at the invitation of the Jefferson students. He is a graduate of the East-West Professional Herbalist course, which covers both Western and Chinese herbs. He has also worked as a formulator for the Natural Foods industry, and a product he developed call Myelin Sheath Support is currently in production. He maintains an extensive research library and computer database of natural medicine clinical applications from around the world. He is the author of the Handbook of Ayurvedic Medicine (1985) and the 600 page textbook for laypersons and professionals entitled The One Earth Herbal Sourcebook. This book describes the theory and mechanisms behind the safe and effective integration of Chinese, Ayurvedic and Western herbs with modern medicine. Currently he is in the final stages of working with Madhu Bajra Bajracharya of Nepal and Todd Caldecott of Canada on a translation from Sanskrit of a new medical textbook on Ayurvedic medicine.
Nai-shing Hu, Acupuncturist (NCCAOM), Chinese Herbalist
CHINESE HERBALIST AND ACUPUNCTURIST Nai-shing Hu Tillotson (Naixin) is the co-director of Chrysalis. Before emigrating to the United States in 1991 and receiving her national acupuncture certification (NCCAOM) and license in Pennsylvania, Naixin studied Chinese medicine at the Chengdu Peoples Hospital of Herbology for three years under Doctor Yang Guo Zhi. in 1982, Nai-shing received her degree from the West China University of Medical Sciences and later taught in Sichuan Province at the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the third largest traditional medicine center in China. She did additional training in acupuncture with Doctor Li Bo Ning , former director of the Sichuan Reseach Institute of Acupuncture. Other accomplishments include being a member of the Executive board of the American Herbalists Guild, and working as acupuncturist for the family of President Mubarek of Egypt.
